A Race Against Drugs!

Spherion Mid Ohio has spent many years recruiting and staffing for some of Mid Ohio's finest companies, putting tens of thousands of employees to work over the last 25 years. To say we are invested in the communities we staff in is an understatement. As a premier staffing and recruiting agency, we follow trends and needs impacting our national and local societies. Centered in the "rust belt" of Ohio, a current and ongoing trend is drug abuse. 

But what can we do and how can we help? Enter, The Drug Prevention Coalition. Founded and started by an idea from community activist Tim Hilterman, he envisioned a 1/2 marathon and 5k that raised money to fund drug prevention locally. 

Spherion Mid Ohio jumped on the opportunity to be the title sponsor for this event. We really wanted something we could be known for in the community in addition to staffing. What a great investment and way to partner with hundreds of runners and many other local business and industry leaders who care about the cause.  

About the Race:

The Spherion Mid Ohio 13ER is a half marathon and 5k Fun Run through Richland County. The Spherion Mid Ohio 13ER brings light to organizations that are actively involved in drug prevention locally and starts conversations for drug prevention in our communities. Developed and organized by The Drug Prevention Coalition, the purpose of the half marathon is to gather the community in prevention and support with a mission to give back to the community.

Sponsored by Spherion Mid Ohio, all proceeds from the half marathon will be given to a grant entrusted to the Richland County Foundation. The Richland County Foundation will then allocate the funds back to the community through groups and organizations actively participating in drug prevention.

We know there is a drug problem in our nation, our state and our communities. We are not looking for one simple answer to the drug problem, but a movement.

By gathering as a community to run for unity, community organizations can benefit from The Drug Prevention Coalition Grant in a race for prevention.

Our local organizations have great ideas and programs already in place. The Drug Prevention Coalition Grant is an avenue of funds to continue to grow, sustain and create programs that actively support drug prevention locally.
